Dear Friends,

I would like to share with you some uplifting highlights (and photos, of course!) from The Cows Foundation.

Firstly, the cows at the Soma Gosala Sanctuary remain a steady example of peaceful coexistence and grace. Every day, under the tender care of Wayne, our Director of Cow Care, they exercise their full curiosity, persistence, and communal love. The young are growing up strong and confident with their family by their side. The elders are slowing down some and looking out for the others with their wise grace. Everyone is happy and healthy and still enjoying the pasture despite the oncoming winter weather.

Last year at this time we were organizing the funds to build a hay barn for the cows. Well, this year the barn is built! Now we are inspiring funds to fill it with hay! And our costs are less by buying hay for the whole winter in advance, now that we have a place to store it all. And we couldn’t have done it without you, so thank you for helping make the hay barn a reality!

And this year has been a great year for expansion with The Cows Foundation. We received a grant for non-profits from Google to promote our website online and almost immediately began receiving increased questions about ideal cow care and interest in adopting and visiting the cows! So, the awareness of kind, compassionate cow care is spreading, and we can feel the momentum building.

One victory we also like to share is that of Joaquin Phoenix using his platform as the Best Actor at the Oscars to share a compelling speech for animal rights, especially cows. The media attention that followed him as he personally relocated a mother and her calf from a slaughterhouse was incredible and helped so much to raise awareness of the blight against factory dairies. We consider his win our win, because it is a win for all animals when a voice that speaks for compassion is heard.

On another happy note, we are actively collaborating with and guiding existing and upcoming farms and sanctuaries throughout the USA, in India, and even as far as Kosovo. People are interested in sustainable, ahimsa dairy and recognizing The Cows Foundation as a source of guidance and support. Among other developments, we have just finalized a grant application process for sanctuaries to request support from The Cows Foundation to expand the number of cows they can care for and, as they are approved, we will be adding our new sanctuaries and cows to the website.

I could go on, there is so much to be grateful for. As we head into the holiday season, we hope that you and yours are safe and in comfort. And thank you for your care for and support of The Cows Foundation. We are only able to do what we do through the generosity of likeminded people who value fostering compassion between humans and animals.
